Dog Harnesses go around the neck, in front of the shoulders, and behind the front legs. Most are made of nylon or leather, but some are made of fabric and look more like clothing. Because dog harnesses don't put pressure on the throat, they are recommended for dogs who have an upper respiratory disease, and for dogs who pull on the lead/lease. Using a Harness controls the dog's body and not just the neck.
The head halter is designed for dogs who pull on a lead/leash. It looks like a muzzle, but it isn't. One Strap of the Dog Halti goes around the back of the dog's head, and a separate strap goes around the snout. The lead/leash snaps on beneath the chin. When you pull the lead, it pulls the dog's head either down or to the side, and the dog can't pull you.
The Gentle Leader headcollar is not a muzzle. It has two soft nylon straps - the collar portion fits high at the top of the neck, and the nose loop fits loosely and comfortably across the base of the muzzle.
